Nasal Surgery
In order to optimize the nose and its function there are several procedures that can be implemented. A septoplasty is performed to straighten a deviated septum. There are dynamic structures in the nose called turbinates. Turbinates can sometimes become enlarged due to environmental factors resulting in impaired breathing or nasal obstruction. A turbinate reduction is a procedure that reduces enlarged turbinates to a more normal size improving breathing.
Your face is the first thing people see when they meet you; by taking cues from your eyes, smile, and expression, others will make assumptions about your feelings and personality. If you feel that the appearance of your face doesn’t accurately reflect who you are on the inside, cosmetic surgery can enhance your best features and correct imperfections. Dr. Kevin Smith offers such cosmetic surgery procedures as rhinoplasty, facelift, and brow lift, all designed to give you the youthful, proportionate face you’ve always wanted.
Balloon Sinuplasty
This procedure came to the United States in 2006 and has revolutionized the approach to sinus surgery. Instead of removing tissue this is a tissue sparing technique where the frontal, maxillary and sphenoid sinuses can be cannulated with a guide wire. A balloon is threaded over the wire and expanded to dilate the openings of the sinuses. This allows the sinuses to drain and relieves pressure and congestion.
Sinus Surgery
Patients with recurrent sinus infections or chronic sinusitis may benefit from Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. This procedure involves the use of telescopes placed through the nose to visualize the sinuses as biting forceps are used to remove the bony septations of bone and mucosa to make one large cavity. The goal is to eliminate the swollen tissues and reduce the chance of trapping mucus that can become infected. The result is reduction in pressure sensation, congestion, drainage and the number of sinus infections.
